The CityReach 411 - July 2022

Updated: Jul 24, 2022

Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.
- Mark 12:31

Did you know that "Love your Neighbor" is mentioned nine times in the Bible? Clearly, Jesus is trying to tell us something! We believe that God has commanded us to spread His love, grace, and life-changing truth to EVERYONE. With that said, we have many opportunities for you to plug into CITYREACH!

What's Happening Now:

NEMO News

Northside Elementary Ministry Outreach, affectionately known as NEMO, is one of our many partnerships! From encouraging the teachers to helping meet needs for the kids who attend. We would love for you to be a part of sharing the love of Jesus with our friends at Northside Elementary.

NEMO Luncheon

Tuesday, Aug 2 at 10 a.m.

We will be providing a special lunch for the teachers as they prepare for the new school year! We need at least 8-10 people to help serve food, encourage, and just be a smiling face. We will meet at the school office located at 2001 Northside Drive. The faculty has said how much they look forward to it every year!

Northside Elementary Back-to-School Orientation

Tuesday, Aug 9

Our friends at Northside Elementary need some extra hands from 8 to 11 a.m on Tuesday, Aug. 9 helping greet the parents and students as well as help direct them where to go for orientation. This is a great way for us to be an encouragement to the families who will be attending!

CityReach Partner Event

This is a NEW opportunity for City Church! Our vision is to unite with churches and organizations who love Jesus and want to see others come to know Him. We want to come together for fellowship, serving others, and to pray for our city!

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church

Thursday, Aug 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.

City Church will be partnering with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday, Aug 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Little Mustard Seed. We will be helping the store owners, Rebecca & Greg build a Prayer Wall that will be an encouragement to those who visit the store. We will also be working on 80 outreach gifts for Lavished Ministries as well as taking the time to pray for our city and the downtown area. Join us at The Little Mustard Seed, located at 437 Harrison Avenue!

Lavished Ministries

Lavished ministries exists to affirm hope and restore positive futures to women who currently work in, or are transitioning out, of the commercial sex industry. They bridge the gap between the church and sexually-oriented businesses.

Did you know most of the ladies that Lavished Ministries reach out to have children? Every month they go visit and pray with the ladies at their workplace and also give them gifts for their children. City Church will be putting these gifts together during the months of August and November. Be sure to check out our next blog for future dates! For more info about this ministry, visit: www.lavishedministries.com
We are currently collecting 4 oz. Play-Doh and 20 in. Beach Balls for the gifts we will be putting together at our upcoming partner event at The Little Mustard Seed on Thursday, Aug 4. Drop-off items at the church office or during Sunday services in The Hub no later than July 31. ***Walmart has Play-doh for $.54 each!

Samaritan's Purse "Operation Christmas Child"

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

OCC Craft Night

Thursday, Sept 29 at 6 p.m.

Join us at the City Church Main Campus (530 Airport Road) for a night of craft-making! These crafts will go in the OCC shoeboxes our students will pack later in the year! This is a fun way to bring the family together...and we just might have some Christmas treats!

OCC Collection Starting Soon!

It's almost Christmas again?! Our friends at Samaritan's Purse have an amazing ministry called Operation Christmas Child...or what we like to call, OCC! Since 2019, City Church has collected over 2000 shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. This is a tangible way to share the love of Jesus with children in need around the world. Shoeboxes will be available in October. Now is the perfect time to start collecting items for your boxes!
